View Case Study

The Mercantile is a six-story parking ramp wrapped on three sides with mixed-use and residential private development. It was named after the original structure, The Fargo Mercantile Co., a wholesale grocer built in 1909 and demolished in the early 1960s.

Plans for the project include space for a Fargo Police Department substation, a parking office, public restrooms, approximately 100 apartments, commercial space, and nine condominiums.

Mixed-Use Wrap:
The Wrap building is constructed utilizing a precast podium to support five stories of wood construction. The building is supported by a deep foundation system consisting of high-capacity Helical Piles and cast-in-place concrete grade beams.

Parking Ramp:
The ramp is constructed using precast concrete columns, beams, walls, and Double Tee floor panels. The building is supported by a deep foundation system consisting of high-capacity Helical Piles and cast-in-place concrete grade beams. Parking increased from 85 stalls to 369.
