Altru’s new hospital will consist of seven levels, six above grade and one level below grade.

The new facility will offer the most up-to-date surgical and emergency services including computer-assisted and robotic surgery, expanded use of telehealth technologies, and more outpatient services.

The structure’s concrete slab over composite metal deck floors and roof are supported by composite steel beams supported by steel columns. The lateral system is primarily steel braced frames, but several moment frames were utilized as needed.

The building founded upon a driven pipe pile with concrete pile caps. The building program required the design of the deep foundation system floor framing to mitigate vibration due to requirements for sensitive equipment or space use, for example, ocular and neuro surgery.
